LE BOURGET, France ÷ A company has been formed in Houston to help former astronauts, cosmonauts and other retired space professionals handle requests for public speaking engagements, book deals, endorsements and other commercial opportunities.

In addition to acting as an agent for former space travelers, the SPACE (Speakers for Public Appearances and Cooperative Enterprises) Agency, also will form teams of former astronauts and space executives to conduct team-building and motivational seminars for corporate clients, said Gwen Griffin, founder, chief executive officer and managing director of the SPACE Agency.

During a press conference at the Paris Air Show here June 16, Griffin introduced former U.S. astronaut Bernard Harris as the agencyâs first client and said she hopes to announce additional clients in July.

Griffin, who also runs a public relations firm in Houston, said she got the idea for the company after fielding numerous requests from former astronauts over the years for help with offers for speaking engagements and other business opportunities.
